CORRECTION TO DEC 19 DIRECT ACTION MEETING: Thursday’s DA meeting is at 6:30, not 7pm, and the location is Steep and Brew on State St. (NOT Mother Fools). I don’t know how this blunder happened, if the site was sabotaged or what. Someone please correct calendar. thanks
Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7 pm, Hillel Foundation, 611`Langdon St. is sponsoring a panel of UW faculty on the Occupy movement. It would be good to have some folks from the Madison Occupation present.

Begin setting up the encampment on March 30th. The first General Assembly will be held on Sunday, April 1 at 6 pm. Direct actions will begin on Monday, April 2. We will demonstrate the failure of the Democrats and Republicans in Congress to represent the views of the majority of people, the Supreme Court for allowing the Constitution to be perverted and for ignoring the rule of law and the Chamber of Commerce and lobbyists on K St for dominating the political process in favor of the 1% at the expense of the 99%.
We seek to end corporate rule and place human needs before corporate greed.
The Robin Hood Action starts with an open mic at library mall at 3:30, and at 4pm forms into a parade with Street Theater (Robin Hood and his merry People relieving the Banker of his money) and there will be chalking of the streets as the Street Theater moves around State street prior to Freakfest. Please update the time and place, and put “RobinHood Parade with Street Theater.”
I thought the events were getting updated here but they aren’t. The Direct Action Committee needs to be able to add events here, because it is creating a whole series of events at different times throughout the week. Right now we need to add about 5 or 6 events for the next week and a half. How can we do this?
A day later, OM is now finally cookin’! Great job all! More people keep pluggin’ into the gaps and holes! Most of the problems I raised yesterday are either fixed or getting fixed, events are getting posted and invites are finally beginning to get out ahead of time, and channels of communication are beginning to develop. Keep it up–keep working on it and things will soon flow better and easier.
Martina, there were separate meetings everyday to do this, called the action or “direct” action committee, but there was no networking with the “outreach” committee to get the daily actions made known to anyone other than those attending the General Assemblies. For example, there was supposed to be late morning action Sat. and a mid day action tomorrow, Monday. Neither one was even announced here on the event calendar. Overall, there’s virtually no trace of any announcements going out, and the little bit that is going out isn’t going out far enough in advance for anyone to make plans to attend and isn’t being laid out and framed clearly to maximize word spreading for bigger turnouts. Basically, just for starters, the arms are not communicating with the legs, and I’m beginning to wonder if the small group working their buts off can simultaneously do effective organizing of events while dealing with an onslaught of logistical problems of maintaining an encampment with a highly tenuous GA process. I don’t know what gives, but I know I’ve exhausted myself with OM to no avail so far and feel it’s better that I back out and lay low before I get too much more negative. Now that I’m on the outside, I can imagine I’m just like everyone else, just wanting to know if there are any events and how I can find out about them. After quite a bit of searching, I can find nothing about any OM event other than GAs which no longer interest me personally.
Hi, Jim
I just wrote you a lengthy email and somehow lost it. Please can we talk sometime. I’ve arranged for my assistant to cover for me this week, so I’ll be around until next Monday. My cell phone number is 815-685-8567.
Blessings!

Oh, and we do not have daily actions at 4:30, so that needs to be removed from every day, unless otherwise notified.

Do you think we ought to have a separate scheduled meeting to work out the logistics of the daily actions supported by the GA?
