Facilitation GA changes

Several people met at 5 PM. Invited people to facilitation meeting again on Sunday at 5 PM to create proposal for GA at Veterans’ Plaza. Please come if you are interested in having input into structure of GAs.

Relocating GA meetings?

A person expressed concern that Veterans’ Plaza was too distracting. Discussion on various places, determined top three might be: Library Mall, Peace Park, Senior Center. Suggestion that we make decision at next GA, and perhaps try out the various locations one time a week and then make decision after experiencing a GA in each location.

Library Mall
Pluses: central, some shelter in bad weather, visibility to students/faculty/public, bus accessible. Minuses: lose a lot of people as far from Capitol, might have people randomly joining which could make meetings longer.

James Madison Park
Pluses: Peaceful Minuses: No shelter, lack of seating, insects.

Senior Center
Pluses: accommodate groups if reserve room, bathrooms, outside area Minuses: more removed from public

Traveling GA
Suggestion online made to have GAs on East & West side of town as some people cannot easily get downtown. [Dace, Martina, and Bill said online they would work on this in Outreach.] Need for Open Mics for the people to talk.

Media: Press Release

Dan and Terry will collect info, put together a press release for Sunday GA. Suggestion made to interview Captain Gloede who knew the site and what happened. Suggestion made to collect police reports for site, coupled with timing of warming shelter.

Dave submitted articles to several papers regarding Soglin’s statements.

Media: Farmers’ Market Table

Alan has a permit for entire season; invited people to contact him if they would like to use it for Occupy Madison. Discussion on distributing information for public engagement.
